Cuba Is Its People

Cuba is its People is the collaborative work of street photographers Laurie Baxter and Charles Cannon. Their individual images of Havana, Cuba serve to materialize the idea at the core of the project, that Cuba is its People. A combined portrait of the people who live there, intermingled within the failing architecture; it documents that majestic city through images of its citizens who emerge as the surviving heroes. Alongside the gallery exhibition of the same name, the publication (half back and white and half colour images) is a fundraiser in support of the Cuban people.

Along the Poet’s Path

With so much of the world made superficially familiar by tourism, Along the Poet’s Path succeeds in striking that elusive balance between traveler and a foreign culture that makes for lifelong friendships and praiseworthy photographs. Photographed by Charles Cannon and edited and designed by Laurie Baxter, the collaborative publication follows the path of the 17th century poet Matsuo Bashō, travelling from Tokyo to the far north in twenty-five beautiful black and white images.

Touched By Starfish

This beautiful linen embossed publication was created for the Starfish Foundation (N.K.A. MAIA Impact) an all-female Indigenous-led school in Guatemala that fuses innovation education with local knowledge. A compelling visual testimony of Starfish’s mission to raise awareness for the urgency of girls’ education, the publication became a powerful fundraising tool.
